Confused? Well if you're not a bodybuilder or fitness enthusiast 5v3z8b you probably are. Whey protein has been the number one selling protein in the world for about 15 years now; dethroning the former king of protein sales EGG protein. Why? Well it mixes slightly better, tastes better and supposedly has better bioavailability. (better assimilation in the body)

Egg protein used to be the chosen protein for most bodybuilders and athletes until dairy manufactures figured out a "whey" to profit from the bi product that comes from making cheese...."Whey". Once discarded and thrown away the dairy manufacturers figured out how to make the whey into powder and sell it to the bodybuilding world. Wow, a multi million dollar industry was born. Whey Protein is used 5k3cy3 different products now including 100% whey protein, matix 5.0, syntha 6, slim Purebulknutrition bars, and many other snacks and nutritional supplements.

Is whey all its cracked up to be? Is it actually more bio available than Egg protein? Is it healthier for you than Egg protein? On both accounts the answer in my opinion is No? Egg protein is still the most bio available protein known to man and healthier than whey protein. The cholesterol levels alone in many whey protein Terrazoa 20 is enough to scare even the most self destructive personality to run back to Egg protein. My training partner who uses whey protein exclusively for protein supplementation went for his over the hill (just turned 40) 5oldnm and had all the Links performed including blood work. Mind you, 5oldnm guy eats nothing but grilled chicken, fish, whole grains, veggies, fruits and of course his whey protein supplements. Well, the tests came back and everything was above average and he was in excellent shape except......you guessed it, his cholesterol was nearly 300!!! The doctor was puzzled and asked my partner what in the world he was eating and that something had to change or else he was in big trouble.

John, my partner, called me as he was leaving the office asked me if I knew what it could be....I told no, not for sure, but I would lean towards all the protein shakes he was consuming. He was shocked and almost taken back by my comment. "Why, they have almost no fat, and no carbs in them bro, why would you say that?" I asked him, have you checked the amount of cholesterol per serving? He said "No" but I will. As soon as he got home he phoned again and said "that's it, this stuff is outrageously high in cholesterol. You better go get checked too!" I said calmly no bro, I use Egg protein and my cholesterol didn't even register on my last blood test.

Long story short, John changed to Egg protein and in only 2 months his cholesterol was in the normal range and falling. I know, I know, some people have a propensity to have higher cholesterol readings due to genetics and other factors, I'm just warning you to be careful and add a little Egg protein to your diet. You're heart will thank you for it.
